Installing hidden 6x9's

Featured Replies

I happen to live in a really rough area so have got to install my 6x9's so they cannot be seen. I have got mdf to put them in, should I drill the mdf and fit it onto the bottom of my parcel shelf so they cannot be seen? Any ideas of how I should do this? I cant have them on display otherwise my back window will be put through almost immediately!

Personally i'd buy a stealth shelf (if they do them for a fabia?) or if your handy with a saw, make your own, the important bit is that it looks totally standard.

Your original shelf will sag with the weight of the mdf and speakers, plus you'd have to cut holes in it to let the speakers work properly anyway, which defeats the object of mounting them underneath!

I was goin make my own shelf but the thing that bothers me is how the original shelf is held in place by 2 pins and they also allow it to move up/down when you open the boot. How would I get around this? Im new to all of this as I just had a sub and amp in my last car.

i personnaly would not install the 6*9s at all. i would say you are better off installing new front speakers with the money as you will get more from them that way.

i assume you dont have a sub in the boot?

will you be amplifying the speakers also?

have a look on here as these guys are really good with car audio and will be able to point you in the right direction for what to do to start off.
