Featured Replies

getting my new DV soon and have been told the OE VAG clips are a pain. to anybody that has changed their DV is there a technique? what is the best way?

Cut them off with tin shears or wire cutters.

yup they are a pain in the ass to get off had the marks for ages :)

Knuckles are still scraped - use wire cutters & brute force...

 no i`m not laughing.... thats me trying to pull the DV out.kenny, pipe grips are the best on the clips, but i would replace them with new jubilee`s

Kenny - it's really VERY easy. The standard DV will actually pull out of the pipes without removing the clips (thanks to Mike@Jabba for demonstration). Then the clips just slide off the pipes. The new DV will be a tighter fit - put a little washing-up liquid inside the pipe to ease it in. Failing that, the clips are made of flimsy tin. They work by engaging teeth in little holes, then the outer part of the clip is crimped with a tool to squeeze it in and grip the pipe. Get a small sharp screwdriver under the tag end of the clip and gently lever upwards until the little tags bend and come out of the holes. No need for scrapes or swearing. Honest.

I thought I had one I'd "prepared earlier" for a photo but seems I've been tidying up ... sheesh! :P
