2nd rear foglight

Featured Replies

Has anyone enabled 2nd rear fog light?, I have looked and there are 5 wires feeding each rear light cluster and bulb fitted, doesnt seem to be a matter of just jumping a wire across from other side, or is there a section missing behind boot trim?

It can be done on most cars with VAG-COM.

My dealer set mine up with VAG-COM - the wiring is all there for it AFAIK - may be a bit different on older cars.

did it on mine the other week with vag-com and it worked a treat (55 plate MY2006 car)

I should clarify my earlier post it can be done on most Octavia II although I did find one which oddly enough was the guy who really needed it, which I couldn't get to work.

:( I wish I could find a dealer near me that can get the 2nd fog light to work. The dealer I bought the car from spent two hours, despite been given the codes from experts on this site, and said that it can't be done. Another dealer didn't know what I was talking about and a third said 'just connect a wire across'. The latter suggestion is rubbish and causes all sorts of problems including spurious bulb failure indications.

Another thing that local dealers don't seem able to do is to get the alarm to bleep when armed/disarmed.

I might try and get this done, .....

.... but what would be more useful, and I dare say IS impossible to do, is to be able to switch the rear fogs on independantly of the fronts.

cant see it myself due to the nature of the switch unless you could tell vag-com to swap the switch pull click around, ie one click for rears, two clicks for front. of course youd then be knackered if you only wanted your front fogs on :)

It's not neccesarily the dealers fault. Giving them codes that you have obtained from here might not help them as the dealer tool operates in a different way and in some instances is much more restrictive than VAG-COM.

send me a pm if you want me to have a go with the vag-com bertj. im no expert but have changed the fog and alarm on mine which work ok. of course if you havent got the cabling on the fogs then it wont work from vag com alone

im still cannot get 2nd fog light, but can get alarm bleeps.

Since many of you guys have completed the procedure with vag-com , can someone post all the steps?

I'm betting they didn't set it with VAG COM ;)

Doh! Wish I'd known the answer when I had the car at the stealers last week for some other setting changes!
