how many ex-Scooby owners moved to an RS?

Featured Replies

me,anyone else? thoughts on the car?

Me. I had a MY01 WRX with 250bhp.

I love the Skoda but it's not as good in the wet through roundabouts or slow corners, it doesn't sound as good (I had a full decat on the Scoob) and there isn't as much sence of occassion when you drive it.

My Tavia has been Jabba'd though and once moving is as quick as my Impreza was, is much better on petrol and generally cheaper to run. It's much bigger inside and better put together.

Me too. Although a Legacy is a bit of an Ersatz Scoob to some... (And the 4x4 a bit of an Ersatz RS! :D )

Did decline on a WRX in favour of my slightly modified 4x4 though, and not the least bit of regret.

I had an STI 5 TypeR (modded obviousy :D ) back-in-the-day. I would probably still have it now if the engine hadn't let go at 150mph like it did...

I had it rebuilt but after it was 'violated' I never regained any respect for it or the brand. Ragged it around for a few more months then got rid. I wouldn't have another.

Oh and my Skoda is LESS efficient on petrol than the STI was - but i'm still not bored with it - even after 2 1/2 years!

Me, had a MY00 Turbo, was a great car but too expensive to run for me. The vRS is an excellent alternative though, miss the awd especially on bumpy wet irish backroads :( but overall I've found the vRS to be a better package space, pace and grace :D, will defo be getting a remap though and fully expect it to be on par (in-gear) with my scoob, the vRS is a great Q-car;) it has made me realise that awd is not as important as i once thought, the mechanical grip of the vRS is very impressive

I had a modded STI 3 & now have a 4x4 Octy. Absolutely no regrets. Im not scared to thrash this one, with the scoob I was scared of the big bang which thankfully only happened the once.

First WRX:

Then STI 3 TypeR:

Neither of them went 'bang' on me........(the silver one has now, ooops never sell a car to a mate)

Now:

No regrets, skoda still manages to put a smile on my face:D

Future??

Who knows, but i have developed a 'penchant' for fast estate cars (RS4)

Me!

Bye bye RB5...

Hello vRS...

Me - several Imprezas and Legacies. Last Impreza (FSSH) went bang at 53k

Would like to have the money to uprate the brakes and suspension on the 4x4 to match the remap, but its been surprisingly painless moving from the Impreza.

Came from a modded '98 UK turbo (251 bhp, 233 lb/ft) which covered 50k faultless miles in our ownership and was sold with 80k on the clock. The driving experience and sound were fantastic, but as the cars got cheaper and "Kevin" and his mates got them, we received a lot more unwanted attention and you never knew whether it would be where you parked it when you returned! Fortunately we never had any trouble......

Oh, and then there was the running costs.......

So, I bought a nice economical Fabia TDi which should allow me to save the pennies and build up some more NCB's before I look at getting another proper performance car. Quite fancy a Cerbera ;)

me too I still have my MY95 turbo wagon just up for sale at the moment but my furby vrs is well nice and I dont have any regrets buying it, its well fast and still returns twice the mpg the scooby did.

my scooby as it is at the moment
