AMD REMAP FABIA vRS

Featured Replies

1'st of April I viisted our friends AMD in Bicester with my Fabia vRS. I handed the keys over and left my car in the hands of the experts. The guys there are top notch and are really friendly, they were very good and provided me lots of advice. They also showed me the rolling road setup and explained how it all worked which I thought was above and beyond!

So anyway the interesting bit, the fabia was producing 145BHP standard, and after they had finishe with it it was running at 185BHP.

The Torque figures: Standard 239.7@2028Rpm

Modified 288.6@2410Rpm

The difference is amazing, the mid range is awesome and fuel economy is miles better. If anyone is considering a chip the get on the phone to the guys at AMD.

Excellent, I'm looking to AMd myself, how many miles were on your car when you put it in, I also take it that you had a custom remap not the generic of the shelf 'One Click'?

Cheers

My car had done just over 2000 miles before i had it done. I did have the custom map but I was supposed to have that put on a 1 click but due to me fitting an aftermaket stereo they could not communicate directly with the ECU so it was a new chip jobbie!

how much did you end up paying for the full remap then? (if you dont mind me asking!)

Didn't isolate the K line then I take. ;)

If you used the adapter from Bluespot....this should have been taken care off for you. I guess.

Why does fitting a aftermarket stereo mess up communication with the ECU?

Did you get a print out of the dyno plot? If so can you post it please.

If it's the same issue I'm thiking about.....

.....plugging 1552 into OBD without K-line isolated shoots 12v down the serial cable......bang!

Most dealers won't plug their 1552 into OBD if they see an aftermarket stereo because of this......may be AmD have same issue??

I don't have that problem with my Blaupunkt.

I don't have that problem with my Blaupunkt.

Neither do I but....what I am saying is that some dealers etc won't touch your car if they see an after market stereo for fear of blowing up their rather expensive 1552 tool due to getting 12v down the serial link....even if you use the correct adapter.

There's a link somewhere here describing the problem....think it was a Ross Tech link.

May AmD have the same fears/concerns?

To be honest I think it is better! I was a little disapointed about that because i used to like coating those annoying 50cc scooters in carbon!!!! LOL :)

Glad your happy mate, sorry I wasnt there to see you again, I was enjoying the suprisingly good weather in North Wales :)

i went all the way to Amd on tuesday (150 miles) and when they put it on the rollers they found my maf is failing at 2600 revs so a wasted journey. iv'e sent off for a Mercedes maf so get that on and get back up there after the hols. :( Tom

Did you have any noticeable faults before the journey?

Its a bummer when it happens but theres little point in mapping a car with faults as it can be dangerous for the engine.

If i'd have been there we could have sorted something out as i've got my Mercedes MAF there but its locked up in my toolbox, damn it.

no Ross i didn't notice any problems before setting off. i had it independently rolling roaded when it had about 6000 miles on the clock and they commented on the way the power dropped off at 2600 revs but i just thought it was the map that needed resetting. have you tried the Mercedes Maf yet ross?

Tom.

I left Prestatyn at 9am Saturday morning, got back just after 1 pm (stopped for brekie on the way)

Weather was cloudy but still dry when we left, I take it it took a turn for the worse. It rained a little on Thursday morning and Friday afternoon but not really heavy, not bad I thought for Wales :)
