Road Angel

Featured Replies

Has anyone got one of these?

If so, can I have your experiences of it, both good and bad.

Has it always warned you?. Is the laser detector any good? and the killer question - Have you ever been caught speeding while using it.

I need to get something fairly quickly and this looks good on paper at least.

Thanks in anticipation.

Yes, I've got one.

I think it's good, though if I was looking now I'd probaly go for the Origin Blue II.

It's always warned me of Gatsos, I don't use the laser detector as I'd question it's usefulness, and I've never been pulled over or caught speeding... :)

Rob.

I had one for about 9 months. Now have the Origin B2 which I much prefer.

I've got one too, I've never been caught speeding and it's always warned me of gatso's, truvelo's, etc.

As for the laser detector, it's nice in principle but by the time you detect someone firing a laser at you it's likely to be too late.

Also, another good point - the green display matches the dash!

I also have the Road Angel and yes I like it. One thing that it is and that is simple to use and operate and even simpler to read and understand.

As for the radar detctor thing...well I,m not sure if it works or doesnt as mine has never gone off. However Gatso,s are very accurate and the ability to easily add your own spots or new sites is very handy and easy to do.

What's the cheapest you found it going for?

I found it for

Interesting point Andy - I have had a Road Angel for about 9 months now and find it excellent, especially for Truvelo type cameras that you often can't see until you are in the detection zone! However, I have never, as far as I am aware, had the laser detection alert.

The other week, I was in Dover docks on my way to Germany and as I came down the ramp on entry this Policemen shouted out to me to stop - I didn't think much abouit it, thinking it was some security check, but when he spoke to me, he gave me a bo**ocking for speeding, 32mph in a 20mph limit - when I looked over where his colleague was standing, he appeared to have a laser gun in his hand, but if it was laser (and not a radar hairdryer) it didn't trigger my detector!

Has anyone had a laser detection alert with a Road Angel??

Just a quick note with regard to Road Angel - we sell them - they are really good much better than the Snooper's we used to sell - cann't comment against Origin B2 but then again road angel is cheaper --- and this is the real point -- if you are looking to buy one - wait untill the motor show - I am led to believe there will be some kind of announcement with regards to cost.

i will wait to the motorshow as i've been looking into getting one.

i jave been told that the road angel software for adding your own site etc is the best out of them all.

Q for TaviaRS - why is the Origin Blue B2 better?

Yes its very quick and easy - certainly easier than snooper.

Look here, Everything you need to know about the B2

As for Laser detectors, Don't bother. I can get your speed within 0.3 of a second.

So unless you are a jedi warrior with lightening reactions you won't slow in time. Also the beam of the laser is about the size of a ten pence piece when it hits your car so unless it gets to your sensor you won't know! Unlike radar which sends out a cone shape and will cover your whole car hence your sensor picks it up.

Also as for the laser scramblers don't bother with them either cos the the LAser gun recognises that the signal has been scrambled or messed about and sounds the alarm bells so we'll stop you anywhere. It is VERY illegal to use a laser scrambler thingymajig. Evenif it is disguised as your garage door remote!

Would this device have saved my liecense?

No. ;)

Lol :)

Soon as ive finsihed decorating the house and have some spare cash i'll be getting a B2 for sure.

Even if it is disguised as your garage door remote!

I've fitted a few of them before now ;)

At the last TT open day we had a couple of traffic officers come down to give a talk, they were very friendly and even agrred to set up thier 'safety van' at the end of our industrial estate.

They tested the 'garage door' openers that serveral owners had fitted and about 80% of them didnt work anyhow! Not bad for around

A related point which I expect members are aware of:

Don't ever use a detector in France or even have it visible in the car. GB drivers have had massive fines (

Detectors are illegal in France. There have been cases of drivers being fined and having the equipment confiscated even though the detector was not in use & packed away in the Boot !!!

Also, there was a law (don't know if it's still applicable) whereby if the detector was just belcroed and ciggy-lighter powered, they'd just confiscate the detector.

If it was permanently plumbed in, they confiscate the whole car

At the moment, you'd better be careful. "Commando Sarko" as he's known locally isn't very popular :D
