First on the MUST DO list is get rid of the 15's and the truly horrendous Michelin Energy tyres :thumbdwn: Wallow like a hippo and squeal like a stuck pig :finger:

As is...

As it will be with 18" Leggera's and better rubber...

I'd welcome advice on how to tighten up the handling. Does the vRS have stiffer ARB's and who does some slightly lowered but much stiffer springs, or would coilovers be better ? Already planning a remap, but are there any other ancillary mods such as intake/filter etc that would maximise potential.

TIA.

very nice car and colour. if you want stiffer suspension and new alloys how come you didnt go with the 17" pegassus with sports suspension? (if its second hand then just ignore me :) )

OK, I'll ignore you :D

I think these would be an excellent choice:

Oh dear - sounds like you need to be an E38 member in order to see the Classified threads.

Sorry about that :o

Eibachs and Koni FSDs - Ditto!!:D

Plus you can do ARBs but you have to search for those for Golf Mk V (as they don't get listed muct for the Octy even though they will fit). Here's some details/options:-

Update ARB list:-

Octy vRS OEM - Front 23mm, Rear 22mm

H & R 1 (Golf V) - Front 26mm, Rear 22mm (adjustable)

Eibach (Golf V) - Front 26mm, Rear 23mm

Neuspeed (Golf V) - Front 25mm, Rear 25mm (adjustable)

H & R 2 (Golk V) - Front 28mm, Rear 24mm (adjustable)

Wheels? There was a set of 18" Zeniths on e-bay yesterday that would be a good deal, unsold but they may get relisted. Here's the link;- full set skoda octavia mkII alloys wheels on eBay Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (item 280137249768 end time 31-Jul-07 22:41:53 BST)

Mind you the OZ Supperlegerra's are fantastic and available in the correct size for the Octy (few wheels are) but do you know how much they cost? Its eyewatering!

PS> With all that greenery and countryside around, why do you want to lower the car? Surely you want to keep the 'Rally' look and stance.

Very nice

You might not believe this, but I live in Leeds. We chose our house specifically for the views over protected greenbelt, and there aren't many place like that within the city limits :D

Thanks for all the good advice. I'll look into the ARB's and Koni/Eibach set-up. I am fully aware of the price of OZ wheels as I've had a few in my time. The odd time I have bought anything other than OZ I've had nothing but trouble with buckles, so I'd rather pay more, ONCE.

Yeah, looks a nice spot

I'd go with either BBS or OZ for decent quality wheels. Never had a problem with either.

Oh, and it was a set of 19" BBS CHs in my E38 link above! They were

Pedant

Change of plan. We've decided to leave this barge exactly as she is. I'm gonna trick up the Furby as I'll be keeping that 2-3 years, but next year we'll chop this in for a PD170 vRS estate with all the bling. No sense wasting money :o

looks nice, does it go like slip off a shovel?

In a straight line, not too bad. Corners like a bowling ball on the Michelin Energy tyres though. Might get some secondhand 18's just to tighten that up, but have decided not to spend anything else on it and just use it as a family barge until diesel vRS's are in our price bracket.
