Featured Replies

it's nearly my '56' fabia's birthday so i was thinking of using a clay bar on it.

will it be ok to use ?

thanks

yes.

Use the guides on the polished bliss website as an aid, you can clay a car from brand new, they often benefit from this as most have been lying around somewhere.

You can clay a car whenver you want, whether it's brand new or 10 years old. Just make sure you use plenty of lubricant/spray if you get any with or or just use car shampoo diluted in water.

Some tips: Before using the clay, cut it into two pieces. That way if you drop it you can throw it away and use the other remaining piece. Once you've cut it, warm it up using hot water and keep on folding it in your hands. Then when you go and use it on the bodywork, do not press hard. Just rest it on the surface and move it across the paint lightly. Keep on checking the clay regularly and remove any bits it pics up/fold it often.

Hope that helps

Edit: Once you've clayed the car, make sure you protect the paint by waxing it afterwards.

As long as you go in this order you will be fine

Wash

Clay

Wash

Dry

Wax

You will be fine mate

I'd dry after the first wash. ;)

why dry it when you need the car was wet as possible to clay the car ;)

You only keep adding to the whats already on there so its only making more work drying it

I'd wash the car, then keep it wet. This helps lubricate the clay also. Then, provided you've used enough lubricant while claying you'd only need to rinse it off afterwards and then dry it. Maybe using a quick detailer while drying will help too. Then I'd apply the polish (if required) then apply the wax by applying it on one panel, then spraying quick detailer over it, then applying a second coat directly on top. Then buff off and repeat on the next panel etc.
