Saw a two page first drive review of the new Octavia while reading the local Co-Op's copy of Auto Express today (they should have more staff on to cope with the queues as I'd read the whole mag and put it back before paying for the milk!) - conclusion was middle of the road, essentially more of the same but better, but not outstanding either.

Yep someone posted the link on here earlier along with the 4car review.

The mag review did say at points it was better than the Golf however and was a worthy addition to the market. I think they were much more positive than you say actually, I know that a points it seems as if they were slating it but overall it was very favourable, and they seemed to think it was a good evolution of the car and that it is likely to be even more suceessful tha the previous generation car. Iv'e shown the article to a few folk and most seem to think that it looks a good car and the review was quite good.
