Using touch up paint.

Featured Replies

Hi

Just a quick question i have 2 or 3 stone chips to touch up on my black VRS should i clay bar the area first to get rid of the many layers of polish before i apply the paint. Then polish again.

mike.

yup, i would (if you mean wax and not polish)

As an aside, I've a large chip on my plastic grill.

I bought the touch-up kit, but as the grill is plastic should I be using a plastic primer before applying the paint as I assume the primer in the kit is for metal?

i would have thought so but i dont know enough as to how much a metal primer would grip on the plastic. you may get away with it if its small.

It's quite a large chip, half the size of a 5p piece :(

ouch! might be worth confirming with your delers bodyshop that the paint kit is suitable for the bumper

Clean the area with white spirit until you think it's spotless then do it again.

you're beter safe than sorry as paint wont' stick to wax, sealant or any kind of road grime!!!
