Swirls

Featured Replies

Given today was a very sunny day (or morning) i noticed my bonnet is covered in swirls, it looks like its been machine polished or the like, gave a section of it a good rub with some autoglym deep shine but didnt take out any of the marks,

when seen in the sun it looks awful so needing a bit of advice on the best way to try tidy it up.

i was thinking maybe a bit of t-cut may do the trick but i see more and more people are using clay bars, would that maybe be a better solution?

i'd say its needing a layer stripped off then brought back up to a good shine to get rid of the marks. you cant see them normally, only when the suns at its best.

T cut wax is good, works for me

try poorboys ssr 2.5 or ssr2 ( depending on how bad they are )swirl removal polish applied with a german applicator pad you can get it from here works a treat on vag paint takes a bit of rubbing though!!!

Clean Your Car - car care products UK

I have just tried Meguiars deep crystal system 1, 2, and 3 it says it removes light swirls and I can well believe it first is a paint cleaner then gloss and finally wax

Autoglym Super Resin Polish is regarded as being not bad for hiding swirls by hand Keith.

But at the end of the day you will only get so good a finish by hand - try and get someone with a Porter Cable to give it a once over to properly remove them.

Or better still - buy one yourself....then lend it to me

as above you really need a machine to remove swirls or hulk hands if no machine. porta cable from the US seems the most popular over on A world for detailers... but there is a UK version being launched in a few months called the ultimate detailing machine. for a full explanation youd be best to do a search on "swirl removal" on the above website but make sure you set aside a few hours to take it all in

You can mask them with a filler like autoglym SRP or megs NXT tech wax but they wont be removed, only filled in for as long as the product stays on the car

a clay bar wont remove swirls by the way. it will only remove surface contaminants and shouldn't take any layers off the clear coat if used properly!
