Hi I have just joined so hallo everbody.

I have a Y registered 1.4 Fabia Elegance. I have had a number of problems, including the power steering.

The latest following an engine managment display light is the possibility of worn piston rings which I find most unaexceptable as the car has only got 46000 mile on the clock, estimated repair bill

Hello Chris and welcome.

Many of the earlier Fabia are starting to suffer similar symptoms now and these are already pretty well covered. Use the search and have a browse around the site, you'll find some answers.

Welcome to Briskoda, sorry to hear your having problems.

Hi mate.

I'd agree with you in principle about the worn rings, but this would depend on how well the car was serviced. On a dead low mileage like that, the car should have been serviced on time intervals and not mileage.

Hi all,

I have the same problem on my 51 reg 1.4 16v Fabia (53000 miles). It has a FSSH & has always had oil changes when the dash has indicated it. I had the piston rings done in April, the PAS angle sensor done in July & now am having the same "symptoms" I had before the piston rings were done.

This problem (piston ring wear/failure) does seem to be a common fault - it'd be good if those of us with the same problem could get together & approach Skoda direct to see if they'll offer any goodwill.

Could other Fabia owners with piston ring failure post here?
