1.9 TDI dropped a valve

Featured Replies

Octavia 1.9tdi 90BHP has dropped a valve writing off the engine

Would it be worth getting a new engine, its on a 2004 plate or would it be worth having the engine rebuilt:confused:

Is there anyone out there that knows the extent of damage one dropped valve can make:confused:

I can't be much help with the technical aspect of your post but if the car is a 2004 plate is it still under warranty?

If not then contact Skoda CS and speak to them about it, you may be surprised at their response.

I have a TDi 110 Octavia and just after the warranty expired the front bushes on the

front roll bar started to show signs of wear.

After some excellent advice on this site I called CS and they were excellent too they took details of the car, mileage etc and a couple of days later called me to say that they'd spoken to the dealer where I purchased the car and had arranged for them to fit a new roll bar and bushes to my car and that I just had to pay the labour costs the parts were free.

You may find that because your car can only just be out of warranty they may be sympathetic and help you out.

I was told by my dealer yesterday after taking mine in for a service that I need the cambelt replacing fair enough I suppose but if it were to go and wreck the engine the cost of a new engine is circa 4K so the engines aren't cheap.

Good luck, call CS and let us know how you get on.

a dropped valve isn't the end of the world. i most cases the engine will be repairable. to properly assess the damage you need to remove the cylinder head

:iagree: - well unless the valve jammed a piston, which broke the conrod and put it through the block anyway.

the last one i repaired was just a new head ,the piston was lightly scored just filed the burrs off about
