Synchronize keys

Featured Replies

Hi,

I changed the battery in one of my 2 Octavia keys but now the remote locking doesn't work anymore. Consulting the handbook I found this:

The keys must be synchronized

Press any button on the key and within a minute open the door with the key.

Well, I did that but it still doesn't work. The little red light on the key flashes when I press the buttons.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Peter

You could try -

Using a spare key switch the ignition on.

Insert the key to be programmed into the driver's door lock.

Manually lock the driver's door using the key.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.

Wait for a least one second.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.

Just tried that but no luck. Anything else?

Just a thought

Got the right batteries in there

Yep, same ones as before.

Just to make sure I didn't misunderstand the instructions:

I use my working key to switch on the ignition

With the ignition still on I insert the to be programmed key into the driver's lock

I turn the to be programmed key in the door lock to lock the door manually

I press the unlock button on the to be programmed key once while it is still in the door lock

I wait for at least 1 second

I press the unlock button on the to be programmes key twice

Is that correct? Needless to say that the horn doesn't sound...

If it won't synchronise, it is likely that the remote has had it.
