Help - Hw do I replace a water pump - Fabia 1.4

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've purchased a replacement water pump for my Fabia 1.4 Classic 2001? Can someone tell me how to replace the old one?

1) Where is the water pump located?

2) What tools do I need to use?

3) Is it an easy job?

I look forward to your responses.

Thanks,

Pacer

I don't know what engine you have ie Skoda or VAG, but if the drive pulley on your new pump has square ridges across it it means that it is driven by the cam belt, and to be bluntly honest, if your car diy knowledge is so lacking that you need to be told where the pump is located, then really don't want to attempt to learn the hard way by changing it yourself - it could end up being a VERY expensive misadventure - sorry!

the water pump is located on the front of the engine (pulley end). Its driven off the polly V belt. So remove that by realeasing the pre-tensionor.

if memory serves me right the water pump housing is also the engine suport mount, so you will have to suport the engine and remove all concerning bolts, and its out. fit the new 1. and but back together in reverse order.

If u remove any bolts of which are a green tint they must be replaced, as they are streach bolts! hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice. Diy I am for the home, but not much experience on cars! I didn't have the right tools to take the water pump out, plus I didn't have the confidence. I left it to my mechanic. He changed the pump and coolant.

I bought the pump myself from eurocarparts.co.uk for
