Skoda Laura-Strange noises on turning on the ignition

Featured Replies

Hi guys - I'm new here and just got the Skoda Laura [the new Octavia is badged as a Laura in India], and I noticed some strange clicking sounds in and around the central console as soon as I switch the ignition on and before starting the engine.

I suspect this may be the self checks of the ESP, ABS etc. Am I correct? Is this normal?

I tried a search but could not find anything.

BTW is it me only or is the instruction manual pretty badly written?

Thanks for any help

Could be the dual zone climatronic making some noises when the ignition is switched on, do you have the CD auto changer in the dash (the Audience unit)? It could be the auto changer making the clicking noises.

I don't think it's too much to worry about as long as the noises aren't too loud and annoying for you.

Welcome to Briskoda

its proberbly just the flap motors setting themselves (part of the climate control) so nothing to worry about.

Thanks guys. Makes me feel much better. I'll remove the CDs and see. If I remember right the sounds started only after I loaded the CD changer.

Regarding instruction manuals.....

Everything i have bought in the last 10 years reads as if it has been written by a dyslexic asian.

if you can't understand it ( not saying you are dyslexic you understand ) then what 'kin chance have we got?

When mine was in for 10k service they put a newer version of software on the Climate Eprom to change the settings for the motors.

I was getting this noise, http://www.d-y-p.com/briskoda/gaff/IMGP5444.WAV

I got it to happen by turning on and off the climate fan. I turned it ON then OFF then ON then OFF (just so you know what your listening to "

I see people still have issues with these problems, I had solenoids changed in mine the other day as a Skoda Techy thought it still noisey, presto there is no noises off it at all now.....very quite. :D
