Tyres

Featured Replies

which tyres would you recommend for wet grip?

I am running on the standard 13" 165/70 wheels. I find that without ABS the wheels lock up easy in the wet whilst braking and want to know the best to combat this.

I am currently on Toyo 330's which are not bad but any more grip is always a bonus

I did have some goodyears on mine, which were ok - I have since gone back to cheapies when those wore out - it depends on how you drive at the end of the day. I have managed to wheel spin when accelerating in 3rd with cheapie tyres!

Yokohama's

Uniroyal RainSports - traditionally, Uniroyal have always been very good in the wet.

My first tyre purchase was michelin energy e3b's. They don't seem too bad in the wet considering they're energy saving tyres or whatever it is. But one has developed a slow puncture or something after only 2 months      :(

It's amazing how the favorit is only a 1.3 and is very heavy but if you go rough with the accelerator you can wheel spin quite easily.

i got cheapies all round and no probs in wet (live in devon always raining) are your pressurs right? 29/28 iirc

Fate-O which are made by continental

well i have not changed my tires since i got my car 6 months ago and the tread is starting to get bit low so im going to replace them at the end of the month

Pressures are ok but i have to admit my balljoints need changing so perhaps this is why i am locking up easily in wet. I have been looking about and Uniroyal seem to do a good wet tyre along with Toyo snow's which are not studded and are for wet/slushy conditions.

Word is that it will be a hard winter this year (Head for the Alps)
