Couple of questions...again!

Featured Replies

Hi

Couple of questions from a new mk2 owner

first of all, Its rained today for the first time since I got my new car.

when I opened the doors a load of water came out from the underneath centres, is this normal?

Secondly, is auto wipers an option, and the single wipe when you engage reverse gear in the wet?

finally the car has previously been fitted with an Ipod dock. It charges my nano when the ignition is on no.2 but I cant get it to play through the speakers.

Is there a button you press to switch to aux channel or something? I have pressed everything and entered as many sub menus as possible on the stereo, but still no joy.

Surely it cant just be a charger can it?

All help/advice gratefully received

thanks in advance

Damian

Can't help with the wipers, but for the iPod I would imagine you'd just hit the CD button, or if there's one to switch to a CD changer on the Octy2?

That's always how iPod docks have worked in the past for me, on VAG cars.

Steve

For iPod operation, press CD button until 'Aux In' shows up in display

sorry, I mean the underside of every door in the central area. water poured out of the little holes.

just wondered if this is normal

yes it is normal, well it did it on mine.

I see what you mean now. Yes I would think so (will have to look at mine ! ) . My Audi does something similar when you open the doors, so I would think thats what the little holes are for.

Opened my hatch up this morning, and a torrent of water rolled off into the channels each side of the hatch , resulting in some spilling over into the inside of the vehicle .

So in future I will have to open it slower, in order to give the water chance to run off in a slower manner .

Water pouring into the boot really pi$$es me off even though i have a plastic load liner.

Definately. In fact, it's the most annoying thing about owning an Octavia hatch.

I have only had mine for a week ,and it's the first time Ive opened the hatch in the rain,

and I must admit I was quite suprised at the way the water splashes into the boot.

Obviously a design problem ....... And a very annoying one at that ! . The hatch area is quite large, and you would have thought this would be factored into the design of the side run off channels .......

:(

This was an even bigger problem on the Mk1 Octavia, used to get loads of water in everytime you opened the hatch. Not as bad on my Mk 2 now but still gets a bit in. What made the Mk1 worse was that the water seemed to be directed towards the speakers mounted in the plastic parcel shelf holder on each side. At least now on the Mk 2 with the speakers in the doors you do not have to worry about flooding them.
