upgrades to my VRS

Featured Replies

Around a year ago I got my house burgled for the key's to my VR6 Corrodo and decided to get something a bit more modern. (2001 Octavia VRS) and a bigger boot.

Usually I would be changing, I usually change every year so I don't lose too much money on the car, I also get bored and there's so many good cars to try.

However since in the year I've got married and brought a house I can't really afford to change, last night I was cleaning the boot, I moved god knows how many tons of bagged soil, turf for my new lawn and a very large German sheppard dog, and the cars still like new

As it's served me so well, even lugging loads of weight in the back I've decided to keep it and upgrade some of features, has any body done this -

I want a centre arm rest to add to my comfort, I drive to Scotland a lot and have found these people -

i also want to get rid of the silver bit on the grill, I can either paint it or get one of these grills -

I was also thinking of getting a K&N 571 Induction kit, are they worth it?

thanks

There isn't a centre arm rest on the vRS? There is on the Elegance, and it's the most useless piece of I've ever had on a car!

There are other styling kits available for the Octy, including dechrome grilles.

Even with a vRS, an induction kit or CAI won't do much for power, but will make the turbo noises more audible. I think most people would recommend going with the Carbonio rather than the K&N though.

Not sure about the arm rest but I'd be careful on the replacement grills as the material they're made from can make spraying up quite difficult if I remember. I think its the FIbreglass ones that are tricky to spray and you really need to look for an ABS plastic one like the Milotec grills (which I have but haven't painted yet)

Can't comment on the exact armrest, but I installed one that came out of a scrap L&K. cost me

And I've got the Carbonio...still to fit though

Milotec was the name that was eluding me.

WRT painting, the issue is with using the wrong primer I think. Use a high build etching primer on fibreglass, and a specialist flexible plastic primer on ABS. Expect to need to use a little stopper to fill pinholes in low grade fibreglass.

the armrest doesnt look too bad imo. looks value for money.

with cai ive opted for an injen currently being imported from the usa and still cheaper than a carbonio

for the arm rest use a mk4 golf i did looks ace

i have that grill but not fitted dosent seem to sit right

is it a simple installation?

make sure you really need it, owned a MK4 Golf (2000) for the last 7 years and never used it, other than to store spare bulbs, got in the way !

Bit of cutting to the plastic at the bottom of arm rest or i think you could just order the correct plastic trim for the skoda arm rest.

Also had to modify the bracket as it fouls the rear of the cig lighter. again you could prob buy the correct one from skoda for little money.

:P

VRSphil fitted the golf one on his car. Looks very nice. I'm sure he posted the price of the bits from Skod too.

Cheers

:iagree: - it's not even a decent size and shape for storing cassettes in (Spec includes radio/cassette head, and CD stacker; since I have cassettes...).
