Rear interior lights

Featured Replies

Here's a quick question - does any MK1 Octavia come with rear interior lights fitted as standard? The Haynes' 'Book of Automotive Fables' makes no mention of them, and I don't want to rip my headlining out un-necessarily if I can help it.

Thanks in advance. Simon.

My 2004 vRS has them.

Really? Got none in mine!

Really? Got none in mine!

Nor mine :(

Any chance of some pics?

I would have thought that the Elegance would have them. We fitted a set a couple of years ago into a taxi.

My 05 Vrs does not have them which is a great pain when you need to put children in child seats.

My 2000x 1.9 tdi octy has them by the rear grab handles.

Hi Simon, the Ocatavia Ambiente did, as I have just taken a set of rear interior lghts out of one in a scrap yard. This was an estate version.

I just completed the mod last week. I cut a section out of the Ambiente roof lining where the hole for the lights were and used this as a template to mark up in my VRS.

I then routed wires frm both rear sdes to the front nterior light and wired up to come on when door opens. Very effective.

There is also some pics on this site somewhere of the lights. I will attach some when know how to attach pics if you need them.

Hope this helps.

Oo, I like those. Very discreet.

That's the ones I put in my VRS. Very effective at night, when you need to put the kids in there seats.

Not got any rear ones in mine(52 reg) :(

Do they just come on with the main light?

When these are fitted standard they are switchable. They don't come on with the door opening or with the front interior light. They are either on or off.

When I fitted mine, i wired them such that they do come on with the doors opening. But you can't then switch on when you want to. I preferred the way I have them.

Mine come on when a door is open, and can be switched off independently.

Hmm, I wonder what the part numbers are, and how much :D

Kenny , thats what mine do, but what I mean is that although you can switch them off independantly, you can't switch them on independantly unless you have wired them up some other way.

cheers

Strange, mine is Ambiente trim but doesn't have them...

If some models have them fitted then I think it's something worth looking into adding over the next couple of months. Cheers guys.

I did the same mod a couple of years ago on my old 2001 Elegance,

:iagree: - it took me months to find them on mine (52 Elegance estate).
