OK i picked up my VRS last Saturday, and when i looked at the Lighter socket in the center console there was no Cigarette lighter there only the socket, now the car salesman told

me you only get a lighter with the smokers pack, is this true?? if so why dosent the socket have a cover. Is this salesman pulling a fast one, my dosent have the jumbo box upgrade.

I don't know if this will help, my wife's 1.4 TDi (05) has a socket but a plastic topped blank !

Hello. I've heard models having the plastic blank on before, believe it quite common now. But a smokers pack. Never heard of that one, unless it's a new option to comply with the new smoking regulations. But there should be something in the 12v socket. Think I would ask the dealer again, should provide you with a solution in my opinion. Hope you get it sorted and enjoy the car.

I've just collected my new VRS today and there is a lighter there.

No smokers kits were ever mentioned.

Also got 18's free too, which is a bonus

SWMBO's brand new vRS has one and my brand new L&K has one.

Saying that, they both have the jumbo box but I've never heard of Octavia's NOT having a ciggie lighter- Jumbo box or otherwise.

had a lighter in mine and ash tray which doubles up as a loose change holder.

Interestingly enough though, the 'power sockets' that come with the plastic plug, rather than a lighter are actually a different design. If you try to use a ciggie lighter in one of these, it won't work.

when i picked my new fabia up last september the salesman told me the ash tray is not allowed to be called an 'ash tray',but it's now called the 'phone holder' !!!!

I've got one in mine; not that I'll ever use it.

go to VW and buy a Tourag torch instead. Its a well handy device that's the size of the fag lighter bit and it sits permanently in the socket keeping charged for when you need it. Very handy - more so than the lighter!
