Probably a daft question but...

Featured Replies

Yesterday I popped into Tesco to buy myself one of their digital tyre gauges.

Whilst in there I saw a mobile phone holder/charger for the cigarette lighter. As I will be using my bluetooth earpiece soon and it uses the same charger as ky K810i I thought it would be a worthwhile investment.

I tried plugging it in today (forgot the Octy cigarette lighter was in a daft position!) and the wee green light comes on even when the ignition is off i.e. cigratee lighter always on.

My question is...if I plug this phone charger into the socket but do not plug the phone on the other end will it run the battery down a lot with just the wee green light on? Not sure if I would need to unplug it all the time which is a PITA.

Cheers,

Steven

Hi Steven,

How long is a peice of string !

Joking apart, it depends what the unt draws in amps(yes it will still draw current when not plugged into the phone) but depends how much driving you do.

Say you drive for just one hour a day but leave the unit plugged in, then it will poss flatten your battery, but if you drive for about four hours ( of so ) then I guess you should be ok.

My best advice, ie unplug the unit when not in use !

thanks for that mate.

At the moment I am not doing too many miles per day, but that can change from project to project.

I'll just unplug it to be safe.

I often leave a phone charger plugged for a day or so and it never kills the battery

HTH

i've had mine in constant for 3 years.. never a problem.. ;)

Aye, but does yours have a wee green light of drainage on it?

Would you really want an added advert to thieves?

I leave my phone charger in all the time, only do a 30 min journey to work and back a day.

Never had any problems to date.
