I guess people don't use these much anymore, particularly with newer cars. Probably only trucks that use them now

Considering getting some driving lights for my favorit. Are there any particularly good ones?

Also how do they wire in? I presume the usual way is to attatch them to the full beam wires behind the lamps, perhaps using scotchloks? - so they come on with full beams. Could probably do something more complex and wire up a relay and switch that's only powered with full beam on?

Maybe looking for something like this but would just get the two although these appear a bit dim compared with the other lights.

You would need to use a relay. I would either use a relay which is powered by full beam, or a relay which is powered by full beam but with a switch in the middle. If that makes sense

For them to be legal and pass an MOT, the MUST only come on with full beam. I used to put them on my cars a long time ago and if you buy them as a kit, you will get the relay and instructions. Ring were the brand to use when I was younger, dont know if they are still around.

I have always found CIBIE to be very good lights.

Must be wired through a relay, otherwise you will overload the wiring loom.

Thanks very much. Any suggestions where the fused 12v suply should be from? I understand it's considered bad practice to wire up extra devices direct to the battery.

Direct to the battery would be fine, its only a supply for a relay so it wont drain the battery.

i beleive the hella ones come with good instructions and the relays that you need. If you dont use the relay you will soon find your car slowly burning as the wiring looms just heat up and melt the plastic surrounds and then touch, spark and set fire to your car
