Multi Function Steering wheel option

Featured Replies

I was looking through the options on a new VRS and I couldn't see the Multi Function steering wheel. Does it come as part of another option or something?

As far as I know, I don't think it comes as an option, as its a different style of steering wheel on the VRS (3 spoke)

So you cant have a multi Function steering wheel on a VRS (from Standard)?

Correct, its not possible to have the extra buttons on the vRS steering wheel becuase it uses a different wheel to the standard octavia models.

Excuse my ignorance, but what buttons are on the VRS steering wheel? Is the Maxidot operated from a stalk?

No buttons on the vRS wheel, the Maxidot is operated from the controls on the end of the wiper stalk.

Thats ok then, much like the Leon FR i test drove at the weekend. Only thing was the Leon did have bluetooth and Audio controls on the wheel.

On the same sort of subject then, I am assuming the Audio and cruise control buttons are on the stalks. Criuse was on the indicator stalk on the Leon.

The cruise control is on the indicator stalk, for audio you will need to use the radio controls as there is no way to control that from the wheel/stalks.

Thats a shame. I am assuming then that Audio controls are on the MF steering wheel?

Also what is the best way to fit an ipod? Is it just to use the 3.5mm jack in the jumbo box or would it be better to get a proper ipod adaptor and will the maxidot control it?

You could just use the 3.5mm connection in the glovebox, but if you dont mind sacrificing the cd changer you could get a dension icelink and run from that. That standard HU (stream mp3) can play mp3 encoded discs in the HU. Even if you go the more complex route of the dension you would still need to control the ipod from the radio.

Depends really how much control you want from your ipod. If you like selecting your tracks one by one..then go for the Denison...but it will cost the same price as your ipod!

If your like me and listen to it on shuffle...just stick with the 3.5mm jack, sound quality is good and get an RF remote from ebay or amazon for

If you want a good Ipod gadget try this one from Belkin, the Belkin TuneBase for only

i was sure I read a post on here stating otherwise (you could use the 'maxidot' stalk) and the 'rocker' would change stations or volume...

just wanted to confirm i'd imagined that :D

if i recall correctly that is possible but only if you've got a Columbus/MFD3 Satnav unit, hopefully some one else can confirm this too!

id love to be able to switch tracks with my maxidot stalk but with my standard stream mp3 headunit as of yet i've found no way to do it

Does anyone know of a cheap powered Ipod cradle with a lineout so you can plug it straight into the jumbo box for better reception, like the Tunebase2? If it sat just above where the cigarette lighter was like the Belkin, it'd be perfect for controlability. There's no way i'm gonna pay
