OCTAVIA Convenience Indicators

Featured Replies

Just spent 45 minutes fitting "convenience" Indicators to my 52 Octy vrs, flick the wiper in one direction and you get 3/4 flashes on the relevant indicator lights and no cancelling there is a kit available from VW dealers to retrofit this to golf 4 and passat B5 models and involves moving some wires on the hazard warning switch and adding a short loom and relay to the car .

the instructions for the passat were correct for my car except one wire colour being wrong

(passat black/green , octy black/white) but the connector position 6 were the same

only did this because I got the kit cheap and having driven 6 hours on the motrorway and noticing how many times i used the indicators to change lane

do they not self cancel anyway? when driving normally round town i mean.

If you use your indicators normally and the switch clicks and locks in place then they self cancel exactly as before ,but if you move the switch a little you can get the indicators to flash and as soon as you release the switch it stops ,with this you flick the switch and release it and you automatically get 3/4 flashes .Hope that explains it

ahh i see, good stuff.

Perhaps these could be made available to fit to BMW's or Mercedes' cars...

no the problem with them is they haven't realized they're there yet.

Retrofit kit part no 000 998 229A includes all you need

Relay "comfortblinker" included in above kit 000 953 227A

next stop is retrokit for heated seats but I need a heated seat wiring diagram for an octavia or access to a switch to buzz it out and see if i can modify a golf/passat retrokit
