this warning light came on today as the wife was driving the vrs , panic stations ensued , owners manual came out , couldn't find definitive answer so rang me almost in a bucket of tears " theres something wrong with my car , cant find out what get on line and find out"

so there you are guys :

alarm acting dodgy activating whilst she was driving ( great alarm isn't it allowing the car to be driven whilst it screams )

peculiar smell like rotten eggs ( could be imaginary since when we panic over small things the mind wanders aimlessly )

my thoughts are with the alarm 'cause the beast is still flying as quick as ever so it seems that no systems have shut down or gone into a kind of get you home mode

car has about 26k kms serviced twice and rarely gets used to its potential

is this the problem lack of use making things go "rusty" so as to speak

There's no standard alarm on the Octy A4 surely?

The failure sounds like a sensor issue; check the turbo pipes are all secure, and check the MAF sensor.

As for the rotten eggs smell, that sounds like you've got into a batch of high sulphur fuel. Fill the car up at a different garage (and preferably brand) to usual, and see if it gets better.

sent the car into phoenix motors bluebell, they stuck her onto the diagnostic dodaddy and reported a water temp sensor failure with nothing else to report .

no isnt oem, itsa gamma alarm which i now have called it a gammy alarm since i still suspect it to be fault

fix incl. labour 124 euro

Since there's no immobiliser associated with the alarm, and it sure as guns isn't a Thatcham, find the control box and pull all the wires. The transponder immobiliser's pretty much all the security you need.

Any progress on the sulphurous oxide issue?

i think for the smell it was purely a case of panic that had set in

i am thinking of a new alarm anyway so it looks like pulling the current useless unit out .. thanks for your interest ken
