lets have a difinitive Viper thread for Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I am currently running the pd 160 panel and pipercross filter but have been looking at the viper kit for fabia vrs. i understand about the possibility of heat soak and the need for a heat shield and direct cold air feed etc and every thread I've found on here doesn't seem to give a review. The closest I found was awesome sarah had one fitted and was talking to the head of pipercross about cold air feeds?

The question.......

has anyone actually gone and bought one?

how easy was it to get the cold air feed to the front of the bay?

What is the sound like?Does it have any performance flat spots?

I have seen Awesome GTI are by far the best price wise so please feel free to chip in your two pence worth on this!

All the best

From my experience they are overpriced and work no better than a larger intake and panel filter in the standard box

Tom had one on his Ibiza PD130, it was crap. By the time you had routed the hose around the houses the inlet track was huge and it didnt seem to offer any advantage.

Lets not. Waste of time.

I got one of these and have changed it for a 'PD160 Trumpet and Pipe' with a Piper X panel filter.

The Viper does not work at all well with a strut brace, and needs repositioning all the time regardless.

Keep it simple, non obvious for servicing and go for the Seat parts instead.

Put it this way somebody I know worked for Piper X and didn't even bother with a Viper for his intake just the Seat parts.

It did sound a little less tractor from launch I do admit but as other than that a waste of time.

Sorry did I miss out it's a waste of time.

Agree the hose is too frail for wraping around the engine.

I would have been better off buying shares in duct tape the amount I used to repair it!

Welsh Coast Customs - you'll have to excuse the play on words! they've done the cat bacl already and did a good job so more than happy to go back. will have the car down at Trax if you're about?

No I won't be at Trax mate but out of interest how much did they charge? And could you choose any tip style? Does it sound good?

Welsh Coast Customs have a very good name, everyone I know who's used them is happy. :) You can indeed choose your own style of tailpipe Joel. Gez's sounds nice, a bit more of a burble than standard, and the tailpipe suits the car perfectly.

Gareth at WCC as done a few bits on my car recently, actually he told me yesterday he had another Fabia coming in, I was wondering who that was.. I'll be down there this afternoon to get a few little things sorted.

I might have to give them a ring for a quote on a cat back system in that case
