Replacing the standard stereo in an Octavia?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Next week I shall be the proud owner of a 1999 1.6LXi Octavia.

And I have a little question, as it comes with a tape player I want to put my Blaupunkt CD Player in it from my Felicia.

And wondered if I'd need a part or something to remove the old Radio Cassette? Or are the prong things enough to remove it?

Only reason why I ask is cos the centre bit looks alot like my brothers VW Golf and I know its a pain to remove the standard Players in them.

Thanks

Craig

a bit of advice mate, i found when putting my new stereo in it was much easier to move the wires out of the way for a snug fit when i unclipped my glove box. just a couple of crews holds it in place the pull it down so u can get your hands in round the back.

I've just put a new Becker unit in and the improvement is amazing. Removing the glove box was easy and helpful, but be careful with the dash surrounding the stereo and climate controls and the glove box front as I managed to scratch mine quite badly. The plastics must be the easiest to scratch out of all the cars I've owned over the years, (this includes Fiats and old Capris).

Guess I should have been more careful....:o
