Stupid quotes!!

Featured Replies

I've been thinking of getting rid of my garage so I did a couple of quotes on Elephant to do a comparison on how much more I'd pay for not garaging the car at night.

I can't remember the exact figures off the top of my head but they came out at around

Yes - if someone breaks into your garage (usually not all that hard), they can have a few hours to work on defeating the cars locks/alarms/immobiliser without being interrupted and steal the whole car.

If it's out on the street the chances of them being seen are much higher...so they tend to be just "low value" smash and grab attacks on the vehicle's contents.

My premium is quiet a bit less for being kept in the garage.

Oh yes, it does vary a lot on the insurers policies, and the car being insured, location, etc. :)

Well, I'm currently insured with Admiral, I'm pretty sure they're the same as Elephant aren't they? So if I was to get rid of my garage, it would in theory go down being with Admrial?

Only one way to find out, and that's to get a quote off them!

Bah, they were dearer, it's cost me

Very random.

I'm just getting quotes for my car insurance now.

Direct line are

Ive just renewed mine. Got about 25 quotes, and the ratio of highest to lowest must have been around 2.5 : 1.

On the subject of random / stupid quotes, I was made redundant and out of work for about 4 weeks last year. I managed to save

I added SWMBO onto my direct line policy lasst year and it knocked off about fifty quid , and she hasn't actually driven the car once yet.

I rent the garage from the council, Although the saving on my policy is less than the rental of the garage, at least I know whatever time I get home at night I'll have somewhere to park. If I were to rely on street parking, I could end up some distance away.

Yeah, I rented my garage from the counc... sorry, local housing authority. It got broken into just after I'd sold my Integra, same thibng happened at my Mum's when I moved out, they broke in hunting for my BMW so I may as well leave my car on the street, if someone wants it, they'll get it regardless.

Parking isn't really an issue round my way so it's no prob dor me to ditch my garage. Feels good now knowing I've left my car out and the insurance won't be able to wriggle out of any claims.... well, they have one less excuse to wriggle out of any claims!
