Cigarette charger

Featured Replies

Anyone else find the location of the charger really annoying?

I find that the charger for my Tomtom and other stuff gets knocked often.

Anyone relocated it?

Indeed its very annoying. I have a phone charger with a blue LED on, its so distracting. but a bit of tape solves this.

I think relocating would be far to much hassle, just grin and bear it dude

Pop into halfords and get a 4 into 1 extension lead, then you can locate it where you want to on the cenre console.

I hated it for Sat-nav

Some excellent suggestions, I have one of Aldi's 4 into 1 extenders which I was going to do something in the shelf under the steering wheel but this looks better.

How does the centre console come out please?

The glove box light ,is fed from a permanent 12 volt supply'Interior Light 'fused at 10 amps'.

I would estimate when all Interior lights are on, a current of about 2-3 amps flow. This leaves 7-8 amp available . The fuse although rated at 10 amps ,needs 20 amps to blow. You can trap wires on the socket for the glove box light If you dont like soldering ,cutting ,or joining into your cars original wiring. There is also a ground connection,as well as a +12 volt connection. Probably better to take out the fuse (F4) in the fusebox , before doing this.Page 12.25 of the Haynes Manual ,item 43 is the glove box unit. I fitted a cable fitting cigar lighter socket ,to the cable ,and leave it out of sight in the glovebox .

my sat nav fits to the fan vent, from the outside when it isnt attached it looks like an old phone holder and when viewing the vehicle you wont see the sat nav from the outside till you actually look in through the window and certainly doesnt leave the tell tale sat nav suction marks which the theives look for. ;)
