I have a 1.9 TDi PD '05' and have just seen some oil in Halfords thats has the spec. that covers VW505.01, VW505.00, VW 500.00. Is there someone who knows about these confusing codes could confirm this would be suitable for my engine please.

Suitable yes but only if your on fixed servicing.

If you've got a variable service schedule then the oil should be at least VW 506.01

Changed the oil with the Halfords oil successfully.

See thread on page 2 "fully synthetic oil" re Halfords oil and offer.

Good thing about the deal is that you can buy one of each types of synthetic oil.
