Is this possible?

Featured Replies

have been pondering what to do for a hobby in the past few weeks... thought about maybe starting a kit car but haven't the patience to see it through to the end... however.

It did get me thinking... don't ask why, my brain just goes off in tangents now and again and I'm given little choice but to follow

In theory...

Could you take an Octy 2 VRS and fit a DSG Gearbox and 4-wheel drive to it?

I think it would have been nice to have either the diesel (or petrol) VRS available with DSG... and 4-wheel drive.

Whadya think?

do it to the Fabia instead , would be more interesting , but if you would get bored of doing a kit-car , you will never get an Octy or Fabia working with DSG and/or 4 wheel drive

yeah... fabia would have been my second choice :)

I'm not going to do it... just wondered if it was possible

Anything's possible with enough time, know-how and money :D

How did you get married Chris? :sofahide:

A building, 40 friends and relatives, 1 girlfriend, 1 registrar, 1 assistant registrar, a photographer, 2 rings and a 45 minute ceremony.

If I had to choose between the two it'd be a kit car, far more fun end results too!

As Chris says with the time and money anything is possible, but to be honest the fabrication of a tunnel you would be more cost effective to buy a 4wd octy as a starting car and transfer everything over, not sure about the gearbox, but that engine is mated to a DSG elsewhere in the VAG group so it will be possible.

I would agree that you are better off to start with a 4wd Octy 2 then do whatever is required to lower it and add DSG rather than the other way around.

Not sure about the DSG box, but I know Awesome have converted some Golfs to 4wd using the Haldex system. Sarah might have more details.
