1.6 rev limiter

Featured Replies

has anyone elses 1.6 mpi felicia got a revv limiter?

It cuts in at 6000rpm just before the redline starts,

its usefull because you cant ever blow the engine, but it can rev about 250rpm still before the redline, so i want to do 250 extra revv's!

possible remap on the cards?

(not just because of that reason though):D

I've never taken my engine up to the cut out point before, my 1.3 spi engine is apparently set at 5,800rpm but it gets too noisy higher up anyway so never take it near that :) Limits are normally electronically enforced by ECU.

I'd take the ECU soft cutout as being a more accurate reading of engine revs than a standard rev counter.

what basically happens is the ecu cuts every third spark after a certain rpm limit has been reached, after that there is another set limit where it actually cuts all of the sparks completely.....

the rev limit is there for a reason and those extra 250revs aren't gonna make the slightest difference to the performance... my advice is leave it well alone :D

my funs limiter cuts in at 6200rpm

:eek::eek:

unfair

I wouldn't put it up that far anyway on a 1.6 - the power is greatly reduced after 4500rpm - so whats the point! I drive mine between 3500rpm and 4500rpm when I want to move - and it shifts like s*** of a shovel!

This might make you think about hitting the rev limiter!

YouTube - A ricer destroys an engine.

Part 2 is more likely to sway your decision not to go high rev lol.

ha ha ha love it twit!

omg what an idiot!

yeah i don't do that!

Also you are so right, about its peak power being 3500 to 4500!

Ricer, a derogatory term for a person who tunes their car in a flashy and pointless fashion. It is also often used as a derogatory term aimed at a vehicles owner or operator that is under the delusion that the vehicle is outstanding/spectacular/special.

I thought it referred to the owner of a "rice rocket" (qv).
