Quick release lamp pod mounting?

Featured Replies

My friend has bought a full WRC Piaa bonnet pod for his car (2 up, 2 down). What is the best way would you think to secure this to the bonnet so it can be removed easily and quickly?

We used to bolt them on using anodized alloy allen bolts, don't forget to use large 'repair' washers both sides.

Ive used normal bolts for now. Unfinished....but you get the idea.....

WTF, you'll need the poxy mudflaps to go with these. :)

OMFG!

 They'll slow you down a bit!

Would blu-tac or Velcro not have worked?

And as mentioned in your other thread - YOU ARE the Blackpool Illuminations!!!!

I've seen them fitted with bonnet release pins before, a'la rally car stylee.

I bet these knock a bit off performance all round, increase understeer, use more fuel... but SOOO worth it.

Now call the folk I PMed you, and ask them for some red rally mudfaps to match! :D

The problem with anything "quick release" will be ensuring they're held tight enough to prevent scratching etc. as they move independantly of the bonnet.

Just fix them on permanently, Dave

Put some rubber under it to stop it moving

Some aircraft type Zeus fasteners would be your best bet. And some spray paint to colour code them.

I think scratches are the least of his worries when there's a couple of holes drilled in the bonnet!

Dzus and all other types of quick release fasteners will always make the lamps vibrate like ****, we bolted them on like Shifty has done then used some of these boot springs on the front of the pod with the hooks attatched to the bumper

Cheers guys.

Flaps and stickers to follow :) May as well as subtle has gone out the window.

As for slowing me down, thats not a bad plan. I know not to attempt Vmax anywhere now, might save the turbo for a bit longer :)

Brilliant

When you entering her in the WRC Dave?

I'd love to see a Milotec grille and the pod colour coded, would look hard as feck.

Oh, and an FMIC STAR style cut bumper!
