Best 'show' products - Black Magic

Featured Replies

Thought I'd ask here as well - my DW thread isn't proving very helpful!

Want the ol' Fab to be looking A1 for Trax on Sunday. It's already been detailed by PC as you may know, and has one coat of Collinite 476S on it currently. I have the following at my disposal. Just deciding what I should 'top up' with? If more than one is recommended, which order do you reckon?

  • (more) 476S
  • Collinite 915
  • Meg's Gold Class
  • Natty's Blue

Cheers,

Steve

I would go for a couple of coats of the Megs Gold Class then a couple of 915 but then thats what I have and it gives a great depth, gloss and durability all in one.

Very wet finish indeed and lasts for months. If you have quik detailer or last touch that might be enough to bring back what you've already done if thats any help!

I only use Meg (Ive been using Meg`s for 4years) I wash my car last week with Auto Glym`s shampoo and it done a ****e job.

Im relying on Megs stand at Trax, they wonna do me some decent deals, need quite alot of kit..

Also what is this number stuff?? 476S & 915 ? ? ?

Steve,

I asked Rich at polished bliss the exact same question a while back and he sent me this reply, hope its of some use to you:

Hi Derek' date='

good to hear from you, that's a nice kit! For Blackmagic paint I really like the Menzerna range; finishing off with FMJ after a coat of Finishing Touch Glaze really seems to bring out the depth in the colour whilst still allowing the flake to pop when the sun is out. The choice of polishes depends on the severity of any defects; if you have swirls and fine scratches then Menzerna Intensive Polish is a good place to start, if you just have fine swirls then Final Polish II may just do the job. All that said, if you have serious swirls then sometimes Power Gloss is required if you want to fully correct the paint, but the truth is it's hard to know before you start, which is why Intensive Polish is a safe bet. Good news is that FMJ is still on special offer until the end of tomorrow, so get in quick if you want some!

Just for reference, here's a guide to using the Intensive Polish and Final Polish II. Both of these products should be used as follows: place a cross on the pad, dab across the work area (third of a bonnet, half a door, etc) with the machine off, then spread at speed 1 with no pressure, then work in progressively at speed 4 using light to moderate pressure (spritzing with water if the product begins to dry) until the residue starts to turn clear, then make a final couple of passes at speed 5 and buff off using a super thick n plush towel.

Hope that helps, any more questions fre away, always happy to help.

Cheers

Rich

Thanks mate - I asked Rich a similar question a while ago, when I was making a rather large purchase from PB :D

My detail consisted of IP and FP by PC, then Klasse A-I-O and finishing with 476. I might look at adding FMJ to the arsenal at a later date

Just wondering now about finishing it off, based on what I've done so far. Think I might add a coat of 915. But I also know Natty's Blue is developed for darker cars and my mate has some... :rubchin:

They're both part of the Collinite range of waxes.

Steve

I think collinite mutes the flake on the car ( yes I have all 3 including 915) If you want somthing you can touch up at the show incase weather bad, the new mirror finish from Chemical Guys takes some beating, if its a wax you want Victoria Concorse (SP) or Best of Show.

I prefered the look of a dressing rather than a wax.

Thanks for that. You're not the first person to mention Victoria to me, so will take that on board. But of the stuff I have available, what would you use? I'm tempted by a final coat of Natty's.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Bigw2069,

Your car looks great.

Not to contaminate the thread, but may I ask the make and dimentions of your wheels. They look fantastic...

That's not his car and they're either 17s or 18s.

For further info, please post in a new thread :)

Thanks,

Steve

P.S. Oh, and welcome to the forum

i've had a lot of fantastic results using Swissvax Zuffenhausen wax on top of some Klasse sealant glaze... its lasted 6 months so far and still beads (occasional top up with zuffenhausen)

Collinite 746S is a detergent proof wax, and is reommended for crappy weather / motorway driving...

i reckon the best bet for you is the meguiars gold class... but invest in a quality detailing spray (i use Chemical Guys Pro Detailer) tip: rinse car off with water or wash before detailing - i've dulled the paintwork when detailing without washing first!

I have some chemical guys super wet look gloss magnifer here if u want to try some on sat mate? I had a bash with some at the weekend and was blown away with the stuff, then possibly a coat of nattys blue?

It was my car, 17" x 7" ET38 Team Dynamics Pro Race 2.

Nattys was 2nd to Victoria for me but for flake poping I'd use a sealant. FMJ or similar

Give me a list of what u have ( by PM if you want ) and I'll tell you what I've tried.

Collinite I found was best likened to grease for a winter coat, which worked great with salt on the road. :)

Zuffenhausen? I'd bloomin' expect epic, out of this world results mate, with something that costs

Thanks for the offer, but I'm pretty well covered in other areas of detailing. It was just this particular issue of 'show' shine that I thought I'd ask advice.

I fully detailed the car the other weekend - claybar, Mezerna IP by machine, then Mez FP, then Klasse All-in-One sealant by hand, then finished with a coat of 476. I meant to put a post up after I'd done that, but never got round to it...

Cheers,

Steve
