New Tyres are Toyos the best

Featured Replies

I have just had a nasty puntcure in my Octy vRS. I think the current Conti Sport Contact 2s are poor. Is fitting Toyos the way forward? If so which model. A quick answer would be appreciated as I need to buy them on Monday (no spare tyre at momment just a rim!!!)

T1-R's will be a big improvement over the Conti's!

I have just fitted a set of 225/45 17 Uniroyal RS1's to mine, they are my favourite tyre. So much better than the Michelin 205/50's that were on there.

Yep, T1-Rs are a very good tyre as are the Eagle F1s and also the excellent Falken FK452s.

With winter coming Dunlop SP3's

as above but i would go with uniroyal rainsports, far far better in the wet,and not far off in the dry, with a smidge more wear rate to boot.swapping to them again when i need to change

If you want wet grip, then Rainsports are the way - most people swear by them in the saloon racing championship we do, in the dry they mostly use Bridgestone RE070, they are fantastic in the dry but shocking when it's wet.

Personally I've found Goodyear F1's to be the best compromise of dry and wet grip. The Toyo's wont be as good as either F1 or Rainsport in the wet IMO.

I have Uniroyal Rainsport 1's (RS1's) on my Octavia VRS and my wife’s Golf 2 GTI, the old RTT1’s on my Golf 2 16v (it doesn’t get used much), RTT2’s on my Golf 1 GTI and 580’s on my Beetle. Uniroyal is all I fit on customer’s cars. They wear a little faster than Michelin but they are quiet and the wet weather grip is by far the best of anything I have tried. Toyo's scare the life out of me in the wet as do a lot of other makes.
