New Mk1 Estate anyone?

Featured Replies

I was just interested to know if anyone has bought a new Fabia Mk1 estate since the new Fabia came out. My father has always been impressed with my 2.0i and doesn't like the look of the new Fabia - so a new Mk1 estate could fit the bill.

I ordered one the other day.

I have a "Comfort" spec estate and wanted to keep things like heated mirrors, and the extra boot space.

The dealer reckoned the new Estates might not be available till May 2008 - mind you they were trying to sell me an old one so it was in their interest to tell me that they weren't going to be available soon!

I looked at the new hatches (didn't drive one though) and they don't have seem to be vastly different in terms of spec, but are significantly more expensive that the discounted old ones. You get more safety features on the new ones though - more airbags, and ability to specify ESP for instance. Obviously the old one is an older design too.

They've trimmed the range so there only seem to be Bohemia-spec models in circulation. According to the brochures they stopped making Ambientes and Classics a while ago - the brochure I have (May 2007) only mentions Bohemias and PD100 Elegances as being in production.

There are no Elegances in circulation in the UK dealer network (my local dealer thought there were 2 at one point but they confirmed there are none left). However apparently I could still order an Elegance PD100 to be built at the factory (which I did - but got to wait 2-3 months for it to be made).

Because I wanted an Elegance, and they're scarce, I probably didn't get a hugely good deal. I suspect you could get a better price on a Bohemia - I'd assume they're more numerous, although the price isn't discounted in the brochure so heavily as the Elegance. (Brochure quotes a PD100 Bohemia at

Friend of mine recently got a Bohemia and mentioned that it had the trip computer that wasn't advertised. Be aware if you were thinking of Cruise Control then order it from the factory as his Bohemia is unsuitable for CC retrofit.

So that was a 2.0i? When will be delivery?

Sorry I wasn't clear - it's a 1.9 TDi (PD100).

Don't think they've made the 2.0 ones for a while - I had a brochure I downloaded in July 2006 and the 2.0 was "Stock vehicles only" back then.

Haven't got a delivery date yet. "2-3 months" they said last week..

I bought a new 1.4 TDI combi sport which I collected on 16.08.07. Car has already done 4,300 km + and averages around 54mpg. (mixed motorway/ country roads - my figures not computer) Only problem was with one of the headlamp washers sorted under warranty. Very pleased with the car so far.

Drove a new petrol Fabia hatch while mine was getting fixed - not a patch on the TDI
