Wheel Protection

Featured Replies

I need to purchase something to protect my alloys.

Possibles at the moment are Chemical Guys Wheel Guard or Poorboys Wheel Sealant.

Opinions or other recommendations please.

Personally I use a normal body wax every once in a while and find the dirt just falls off when washing with normal shampoo but either of the 2 you mentioned if you must use one of these products should be fine :)

I've use both of those you mentioned, but am currently using Chemical Guys Jetseal 109, it's fantastic. Also beautiful for paintwork. Can be hard to get hard of, it just flies but Clean and Shiny usually have it.

I've used the poorboys wheel sealant and it did seem to do the job. Bit dissapointed with the durability, didn't seem to stay on the wheel for very long. I've heard that the chemical guys wheel guard is suppose to be better at this, so would say to go for that.

From what I've read normal car wax isn't designed to be used on the wheels due to the heat from braking can break down the wax.

Hope this helps

Nick

Id be very suprised if wheels got as hot as something like paintwork in hot sun.

I've used AG Extra Gloss Protection on wheels before, works great and lasts quite a while too. It's a synthetic sealant and you can spray AG Instant Tyre Shine over the wheels too and leave to dry. Brings the shine out on the alloy and glosses the tyres too.

Another Poorboys Wheel Sealant user here!

Jetseal for me as well, getting really good write-up's on Detailingworld as a wheel protector, and for everything else to be honest.

Poorboys here too, but not tried anything else TBH. Might try Chem Guys next time, and I'm getting a little bit low...

Zaino's range try: Z-AIO + Z-CS. Combination gives plenty of protection and shine. :)

I use Belgom on my polished alu bits and then Poorboys EX-P on everything, I've run out of QD so I may well have to whack a bottle of Jetseal on the order as well. :D

I was dissapointed with Poorboys. I just use the Collinite wax that use on the bodywork now and it seems better IMO.

Thanks everyone for your responses. As with most questions on detailing, a mixed set of replies!

I think I will give the Chemical Guys stuff a try - hoping to be able to arrange a collection from Clean Your Car - car care products UK in Huddersfield on one of my trips along the M62 so that I will save on postage costs (yeah right - I'll just spend it whatever I save on other bits!)

This Jetseal stuff does sound interesting but its a quite a bit more expensive and seems to be out of stock at Clean and Shiny, so maybe try that some other time.
