Newby Octy VRS driver wannabe

Featured Replies

Hi guys (and girls - although I suspect mostly guys).

New to this lark so pls be patient with me.

Lovin' reading some of the stuff on the site and since I hope to order a new Octy (as I see you guys like to call them) VRS soon, I'll likely be spending a fair bit of time on the site.

I'm looking to order soon and have a few quid to spend on options. That said, I don't want to go daft and buy stuff that's not worth it.

My first real dilemma is whether or not to go for the estate or the hatch. Somehow I think the estate looks a little nicer and I'd be tempted as long as handling isn't too badly affected. Any comments?

The following options are a must - Metallic / Pearlescent paint. Cruise control, Maxidot (so I have been told), and Curtain Airbags (hope to never find out how good they are).

Is Light Assist and the Rain / Light sensor any good or is it as naff as, say, the Peugeot one (I used to sell Peugeots)

Any comments on Xenon lights? Don’t mind shelling out the dough if they're going to light up the sky for me on my country road home.

What's the active front headrest all about and should I be bothered about shelling out a tank of fuel's worth for it??

Possibly most importantly, since the nice people at Skoda are giving away freebies in the way of Jumbo Box etc and 18" wheels, can anyone give comment on how the big wheels affect handling 'n'stuff??

So many questions for a new boy!!

Look forward to hearing your views.

Cheers,

Mondo

To answer some of your questions I think that the options you've chosen are worthwhile. If the end the free offer before you order I would say for sure the Jumbo Pack and 18" wheels.

I don't have a problem with the 18" wheels.

If you have the ££ available then Xenons are good as are rear parking sensors.

Thanks Stu. I was wondering about the parking sensors. I've never had them on any car and can't say I've missed them but the Octy is a bit high at the back so I guess they may be worth buying.
