Anyhow, here it is, ready for action. No one will escape from 900mm of reach :P

Will take a few shots over lunch outside, as the zoom is a bit too big to handle in the office

It is a tad heavy. You can handhold it, but after a minute or two, it gets rather tiring I tend to use it with a monopod which gives enough stability so I only have to worry about pan jitter and not up/down jitter

Yes, it does have a zoom, it's a 120-300mm f/2.8 lens, but here fitted with 2x TC so 240-600mm f/5.6. Take the 1.5 crop factor of the D200 camera and it's more like 180-450mm without TC and 360-900mm with TC

I must admit I am the same, would like to be able to take nice photos, and to be honest most of the ones I take do what I need it to do.

Point at the thing i want to be able to see again, push the button , job done.

Its on my list of things to learn, but thats a long list

I reckon I might leave my digital camera at home. Will still bring the camcorder though.
