Dragon box on a re-mapped furby VRS?

Featured Replies

Whats stopping you putting a dragon box on a re-mapped VRS? will it give more power on top of the re-map?

If my car is now 170BHP ish would i need to get a dragon box for a PD170?

Id b looking at a digital one so it cud b adjusted, would anyone strongly recomend not doing this?

Any Help please guys!

I seriously wouldnt I would imagine it could cause damage

  • Author

why? what and how cud it damage??

AMD said it was perfectly possible to use both at the same time...it may smoke a bit but it would work ...not sure how much extra it would add ....maybe take it up to 200 bhp but the clutch would suffer in the end

I can't see how it would improve things any more.

If the engine could develop more power just by increasing the fueling then a remap would do it anyway

thats a good point, but does anyone else hav any comments on this? or has any1 even tried this? Got a sachs organic clutch being fit in a few days so im not worried about that! :)

I have a comment. Don't even bloody think about it.... :)

Your remap should have been done to get the best from your engine, and a tuning box is going to seriously mess with those figures. If you're unhappy with the performance consult the mappers, and ask them to change it to how you would like it to perform.

Those were my thoughts.

Will play havoc with the ECU

When you remap an engine you are taking things all that bit closer to the limits of the standard engine, gearbox etc. I wouldn't fancy putting what is essentially an unknown quantity (tuning box) onto an already stressed engine.

:nol2:

My tip would be spend some more time considering spelling, less time texting and wondering if you can or can't blow your car up with a tuning box.

I don't really think it is fair that you say that. It was a reasonable question that I don't remember being asked before.

He is not trying to 'blow his car up' just trying to get the maximum performance and looking at different ways of doing it.

Still what do I know...? I think I have some friends to text... brb

One option is not to **** off one of the most knowledgable blokes on the site:rofl: and take Stu's answer as tongue in cheek way of saying don't do it to your pride and joy;)

I can hardly see what he did to f**k off stu, other than write in txt speak, it is a bit annoying but I can think of plenty of worse candidates rather than this chap who asked a perfectly reasonable question.

Coming from a mod I would have expected a more mature answer.

I was reffering to the :finger::finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: in the last post:D but hey ho not my fight and it seems to be the way things are going of late, something in the water?

Of course you are right...

Easy tiger - Calm down.

As Emily quite rightly says it is annoying to see the use of text style speak here, there is no great limit to the amount of characters you can post here so clearly no need to post in such a manner, I find it both rude and unnecessary.

As it happens a similar question has been asked before, however I will give you my opinion -

A remap uses a balance of extra fuelling and increased boost pressure to achieve the improvements. If it were feasible to push a load more fuel in there, which is what a tuning box would do, then the remap would do that.

I hope this answers your question adequately and that you'll think twice before offering abuse to forum members.

There is no need for this, you have your thoughts and opinions and rightfully aired them. You didn't offend me and you certainly shouldn't feel that you have to 'tow the party line'.

Ok then here's what I said:

If you want to pick on people's spelling, stu, I would take a look at some of the threads in the Felica forum. Oops I forgot you can't flog them crusie control and alike, so what's the point in looking in that forum?

Tbh I felt it was out of order, so I deleted it.

Given the amount of abuse that is currently lurking around the off topic forums (:bike: for instance) I don't see how this counts for anything much.

I'd like to think I put a little more into the forums than that Emily. You may also wish to recall me spending quite some time on a couple of occasions helping you over MSN when you towed a car with your strut brace and when you were unsure about your service on the car.

I don't tend to post much in those Forums as to be honest I don't know a great deal about the specifics of the cars.

well its certainly hotting up in here!

look stu, maybe i did take your comments too to heart, but i was mearly asking more knowledgable people than myself questions i didnt no the answers to ( i thought that was what this place was about)

I didnt mean to offend people with my 'txt' way of writing, i thought it was the norm as people seem to abrieviate words all the time e.g IMHO and TBH.

If it p*ssed u off im sorry, but theres ways of going about it but instead u made me look like a tw*t

As for spelling, i try my best, being dislexic dont help tho!

Thanks to everyone who had a say about the dragon box, it wont be something il be doing, il just keep saving for my FMIC, sorry i mean Front mounted intercooler and bigger turbo!:D

Right, il get me coat...............:P

I don't make a habit of having a go at people for spelling, mine isn't always as it should be. I do really hate to see text speak such as CUD and WUD etc, I suppose it's a lot to do with my old age!! :P

There are loads of abrevations as you say and these tend to be accepted on forums, in fact I often use them myself but abbreviations differ from intentionally is spelled words.

No offence taken and I hope you've got the answers you wanted.

Fair enough, however it will be something to do with my age as im only 21! Anyway, no damage done tho and hopfully water under the bridge:handshke:

p.s i didnt realise it was you with the website, we've actually emailed before about the fitting of a strut brace and i found u to be very helpfull.
