slightly off the normal trail

Featured Replies

i just picked up a new works van, still only got about 135 miles on clock, its a transit with a 2.3 petrol lump in it producing about 140bhp(book figure), any ideas what i could do to it to push that up slightly without the monkey mechanics noticing when it goes in for a service??

might sound cheeky but its worth a shot

use an octy vrs 2 tow it?

With all due respect m8, its a Transit van. You probably could get more out of it, but are you going to do anything about the crappy tyres it will be on remembering that you have to have a min of 6 ply and they wont exactly be sticky rubber?

It will shift well enough in standard form so why bother?

Of course if you wanted some serious hp/torque then you should have gone for the new VW Transporter in its 2.5l 174 hp and 400Nm of torque form.

Des has a TDI transit and has tried a tuning box with excellent results. dont think an n/a petrol will have much scope for improvement, for example I can shell out 350 on the mondeo and for that I get an additional 5 BHP.

was just asking as it would be nice to go a bit quicker, and it aint my van so i didn't have any choice in what i got otherwise i would have got a TDI for the hugh torque :)

It's well known that Transit vans are quicker than any other vehicle on the roads anyway - why do you want it to go any faster, after the Land Speed record?

K&N induction kit?

Probably fiddling with the petrol going in (super?) would have similar small performance gains.

is same 2.3 as used in old sharan/galaxy so shoudl be a few bits.. could chip it.. gas flow the head etc..

Tuning box, touch of NOS? :D

Only in the hands of builders and courier drivers.

If it has a tow bar then a caravan wont be far, as will piles of debris NOT from their garden of course.
