Brakes

Featured Replies

Im under the impression that the back brakes dont do an awful lot compared to the front, is this right?

At some stage il be upgrading the fronts to 312mm disks. Is it possible to use the standard front disks on the back, thus upgrading the rears as well? Would i need to get different rear calipers?

I don't think you'll be able to switch brakes front-to-rear without major work, but the 280-something mm discs on the back are the same size as used on non-4x4 Mk1 TTs, which had 312mm discs on the front. So you ought to be OK with the rears as they are...

I asked this question too when I got my Fabia, but two years later, and 40k on the clock of less than gentle driving, I have only just replaced the rear pads, with Skoda ones at £15 for the set. They do indeed do very little.

I'd upgrade to TT calipers, 312 Tarox G88 discs, and depending on your car use - town driving go for Tarox Strada Pads, not town driving go for Tarox Rallye pads. Halfords 5.1 brake fluid too.

That set up when bedded in will pull your face off :)

the front discs wont fit on the back

Cheers guys! tarox would be amazing, im abit skint after the ARB, prings and sachs clutch so i wont be looking at spending loads, just seen a 312mm kit on ebay, stands at £56 at the moment and £26 delivery, whats the most i shoud be paying for a second hand kit? dont want to get ripped off!

Il then upgrade again when those disks and pads need replacing!

My fabia will be a fully equipt neck braker then, brake it when you put ur foot on the gas and the brake!

They look quite nice. If you could steal them for less than £150 it'd be a bargain.

yeah not too bad for anything upto 150 notes.... throw the pads away tho and fit new ones
