Fabia TDI servicing

Featured Replies

Hi all, apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't see any obvious answer using search.

I'm a bit puzzled over the servicing for my Fabia TDI.

It's two years old, and this year was serviced at 15,000 miles. However, the dealer tried to do the 20000 service, at a higher cost. However they didnt tell me why there was such a price difference between the "standard" price and the 20000 price.

Hence, I had the standard service, and had the brake fluid changed as it was two years old.

So, do I now need to have the car serviced again at 20000, or just wait until 12 months (or 12000 miles) before the next service as normal?

At the rate I drive, 20000 could be next year, but probably before the 12months/12000 miles is up.

Help!

The 20k service has more checks and inspections over the standard service which is why the price is a bit higher since more work is involved.

Hi Hewesy,

I thought the servicing was 10,000miles or12months, and 20,000miles ,24months

Thanks for the replies - so should I get the 20,000 mile service done when it hits 20k? I'm happy to err on the side of caution on this.

Radiotwo, I thought it was 12k or 12months, will check the manual later.

20k service should be done at 2years old or 20k miles - which ever comes first.

I believe your dealer was right in trying to do the '20k' service at two years old

Thanks Tim,

Trouble is the dealer said on the phone it was a basic service when I booked, then changed to 20k service when I brought the car in.

If they had told me why it needed the 20k I would have had it done, but when I queried it needing a 20k at only 15k, they immediatly changed the service back to standard and said no more about it.

I'll get it done at 20k, it has had a service and brake fluid change, air con regas, so should be OK for another few months....
