millers power sport 4 @ halfords

Featured Replies

For those of you who are finding it hard to get hold of this stuff, halfords now stock it in 500ml containers. Priced @ £11.99 item code 811125 :D

Meh, if it's okay to run on either supermarket diesel or Shell V-Power then it's okay to stick 50ml of snake-oil in with a tank-full IMHO.

There is nothing in that thread that substantiates that claim !!!

Fair enough, apart from the first few threads, most people are pretty positive about it. But the gut reaction of one of the "antis" (TeflonTom) is enough to put me off...

Then again, I have just put Super Unleaded in the Roomster courtesy car I'm using at the moment by mistake - only noticing afterwards that the filler cap label say 91/95 RON only... :o

Still, t'ain't mine! ;):D

Is it possible to put fuel with too high an octane rating in a car? What happens if you do? Obviously detonation is the result of too low octane...

Since it says suitable for Euro IV and particle filter equiped cars I'm more likely to say it's safe than believe someones "gut reaction" ... no offense to TT's gut ;)

You'll get more 'bang per squirt' with high-octane fuel, but as long as the cooling system's working OK, I don't think this is an issue. I believe the ECU alters the timings to match the fuel used, but this takes a while, so seeing how I was only topping off, the tank probably only has 96.5 RON fuel in it and I don't expect it'll have made any real difference...

I hope! ;)

I did some research and this isn't actually true - the octane rating of the fuel is purely a measure of its knock-resistance and has nothing to do with how the fuel burns once the spark has ignited it. Of course, 'Super' fuel may actually have better ingredients which might give more 'bang', but the higher octane rating merely allows higher compressions to be used.

I stand corrected!
