Boot cover and glasses holder fitted

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

As the post says, I installed the boot cover. Part number DMK770005.

Overall quality is average and the cover is attached to the seats via velcro strips. Basically it does its job but then it only cost £12.77+VAT. I'm sure I can make a few adjustments to tidy things up a bit.

Tipped the back seat forward slightly so you can see it in more detail.

The sunglasses holder on the otherhand is excellent quality, took two minutes to install :) and is fully insulated. Note: You will need to remove the climate sensor from the old unit and fit to this unit before fitment. Now that this is in I'm tempted to fit an illuminated courtesy light as per the one found in the Superb.

I like this shot, you can see all the way to the back of the car through my sunglass lens.

Had to take one snapshot of the roof on a day like this :)

BTW, I also bought the AUX lead ZB000035595A £2+VAT. To be honest if you use an iPOD you really need a longer lead.

I also have some Atera roof bars: SIGNO ASR AR2110 on order from roofbox, £69.95.

Cheers

Des

That cover looks a bit pants... surely they could of come up with a better fixing. Still, at that money you can't complain.

As for the sunglasses holder - very nice indeed. :)

Tell me! I'll make my own adjustments, trim the velcro, snip of the pulled threads, may even stitch in, no, lets leave it at that :) don't want to shaft the whole thing up now do we!

Great work Des, will be sorting a few bits out like that myslef when it turns up.

I have one question though...

Now that this is in I'm tempted to fit an illuminated courtesy light as per the one found in the Superb.

Why would you need to use your sunglasses in the dark ?? :D

Lovely blue sky looks great through all that glass! Hope it's still sunny when mine arrives :)

I can't even think of a smart alec response to that :)

Hmmm Des - initial thoughts on boot cover are understandably not too complimentary but needs must, I guess and I may well order one too. At least it's cheap.

Sunglasses holder is a different matter. I think it's great.

Thanks very much for the pictures (and the mp3 lead advice). Only 9 more sleeps until I can take pics of my own :D

Thanks for the pics, I really like the glasses holder. I also have the Altero roof bars and they are excellent quality and fit pretty well.

I have had the boot cover for some time now and was also going to mod it but not really found it necessary as the sunset glass and the cover together make it pretty hard to see through any of the small gaps.

Have you ordered the exhaust tailgate trim from the MK1 Fabia yet? that makes the rear end look pretty cool!

How do you get the original piece of plastic out to fit the holder?

How do you get the original piece of plastic out to fit the holder?

The main tabs that hold it in are the ones on each side, you can see one of them in the second picture with the lid open. You need to gently prise your finger nails under the edge of the over and pull, dont use any tools

You will need to undo the volumetric sensors for the alarm fom the old unit and fit them to the sunglasses holder.

Any probs and I could meet you at the Severn bridge for a coffee and an assist.

I am sure you will manage though.

Thanks.

I applied a little force to it and it took about 30 seconds!

If only everything was that easy

I see the options are either 20cm or 1.5m for this! I would have thought the 1.5m one would be too long with cable flapping about everywhere? Would the 20cm one reach anywhere other than the passenger seat?

The 20cm is NOT long enough for you to operate the ipod on the move, especially if you have the armrest fitted, otherwise you could fit put the ipod in the tray behind the handbrake. I just leave it to play on shuffle while I'm driving. The ipod just sits behind the handbrake right up against the base of the armrest so it's not gonna go anywhere.

Des

Thanks Des,

Mine should have the armrest fitted if they've built it all correctly so looks like I should probably get the 1.5m option.
