Hullo

Anyone know what font the UK standard plate is? Or any suggestions for decent looking alternatives.

if you look at fancy plates.com the standard font they show when your making your own plate is pretty good.

most of the fonts they use are legal for use in the UKso any of them should be fine.

lovely script ones on many RS turbos seems nice...

I was hoping for a font in microsoft word to be the one they use, in light of a PM I received earlier this morning... ;)

Well - I've found out the font is called "Charles Wright" - but I'm not paying

Mine are all ordered and should be here tomorrow :D

Hi

I believe that since 01/01/2003 any other font, size or spacing of script different from 'standard' has been made illegal for road use. It is to do with the no. plate recognition cameras which are now widely used, and which cannot pick up non-standard script. Enthusiastic old bill can hand out

Ian, they are for track use only.

Mine have the Skoda logo on the left, Warranty voided by Skoda UK as the bottom text, front reads IXAT, rear is RUNNING IN

For the road, my plates conform to all the relevant laws

Jon,

who did you use for the plates.....if one may enquire?

ANPR isn't much cop with standard script either!

Rob.

ordered some from there this morning, with just my briskoda username a skoda border, skoda logo bottom right and briskoda.net. in font number 2 in the constructor. guess they will have a few orders coming.

Me is confused Jason

If the plates are not for road use WTF does it matter what font they are in?

If the plates are for road use - haven't you got a set already?

Maybe he wants it to look authentic? :)

Rob.

Jason, put the plates from the wreck on. That will confuse them.

I'm not using the wreck ones, but I wanted the ones I'm going to DIY myself to look as authentic as possible... I believe mr dsemuk has found the answer and I'll see what that will produce.... Now need to match the rear plate colour... :(

Are you going to print them yourself and sellotape on, Jason? :)

providing I can get all the dimensions right, I'm hoping to just run two bits of chunky card through my mates laminator and then stick them on. If a plate is bigger than 297mm wide though... I'm a bit scuppered. Gonna work on it tonight.

Also I think I'm gonna have to use bloody "paint" on windows now, as I can't see a way of shading the background of a text box in word. :(

right click on the border of the textbox, select "format text box" then select the fill colour?

see sig below :D

have ordered mine!

Very often - 95% from you! :P

I'm only getting proper plates ordered if I'm getting the private plate I was thinking about a while ago. :D

Cheaper solution - anyone taking an interest in number plates gets their eyes poked out :)
