locked in

Featured Replies

My little boy likes to jump into the driver's seat of my wife's Fabia and pretend to drive etc. The other day he climbed across to the passenger seat and was investigating the glovebox. I was in the driver's seat. My wife, thinking that we were out of the car, locked the doors using the remote.

The two of us were stuck in the car as all doors are deadlocked, the horn or electric windows don't work and neither does the "unlock" button in this scenario. I ended up climbing into the back, winding down the manual window and climbing out to go in search of the keys. Quite amusing, but also potentially serious.

 you say your wife didn't see you in the car, mmmmm, maybe it was deliberate ;)

thats the only thing i prefered with my citroen. if you wanted deadlocking you had to push the fob TWICE. making it a definate choice over just simply locking the car and walking away without realising its deadlocked.

i cant see how this couldnt be a saftey issue imoa?

the other thing i found is that i had the boot open and somehow the doors were still locked on the car, so when i shut the boot the indicators flashed and the whole car was locked! if i had dropped my key in the boot while rumaging i would have been done for lol!!

With the Fabia its the other way around, you get deadlocks on the first press. To disable them, press the lock button again.

The middle button on the Fabia keyfob opens boot only and switches off alarm , when you close the boot it relocks boot and reactivates alarm , golden rule is NEVER put keys in the boot when boot only is open.
