Cold start problem on Roomster

Featured Replies

A strange noise comes when the engine is cold, what could it be?

Looks and sounds like its misfiring.

Yeah that doesn't sound very healthy (quite diesely too ). Is it just at idle or does it continue if you rev the engine?

Either way, time to visit a dealer I would have thought so they can read off the fault codes. If it only happens when cold, it may just be a sensor needs replacing.

After this noise the engine stops, when I start the engine again it works very normal. Only at the first cold start comes the noise, the engine don't give response when I press the throttle.

One week ago the Skoda service has cleaned the EGR valve. And no fault codes was determined on Vag-Com.

Does sound like it's missing but that would come up on Vag com. Did it do it before they "cleaned" the EGR?

This was begun 2 week before and I left the car to the Skoda service, nothing was found on VAG-COM. As a solution they cleaned the EGR. But engine is still the same, tomorrow I'll bring the car to another Skoda service. :(

I was going to suggest throwing it back and demanding a courtesy car, until I realised you're Turkish and may have different consumer rights law.

Second suggestion for a misfire is plugs or HT leads (presumes this engine doesn't have coil packs).

Today at the Skoda service, they decided to change the fuel pump. The pump has been ordered from CZ. Again no fault codes on VAG-COM.

Now, wait and see...

It more or less has to be fuel related if it's only when cold. Thats electronic fuel injection for you!

I read same problems on German Forum, the problem has been solved by changing the throttle valve (butterfly valve) on petrol engines.
