blue smoke !!!!!

Featured Replies

hi guys, noticed blue smoke coming from exhaust when driving along, I'm not at all sure why???

octavia vrs 110,000.

checked the oil, plenty

please help

Well blue smoke is oil, so its either the turbo, or valve seals (most likely) etc.

or piston rings/bore wear due to high mileage

Mileage isnt that high though. 110K miles is nothing, several 1.8Ts on here have gone way over that mileage remapped without trouble.

Thaks for you reply's.. it's getting looked at on monday!!!

Will it be costly????????????

Cost really depends on the problem, and if you still have any warranty. New turbo is very expensive (could be 1K) so lets hope its not that.

Quick query - you say blue smoke when driving - can you be certain it is actually coming out of the exhaust, or just from out the back of the car. Any oil dripping onto the hot manifold/downpipe at speed will exit the car from the back end and look like your engine is burning the oil.
